2 Alarm Fire caused by fireworks at Little Saigon Lunar New Year celebration – Feb. 8, 2016 San Jose, California
Fireworks set off by spectators, are the suspected cause of a single tree and small portion of a building catching fire, during the East San Jose Little Saigon Lunar New Year celebration at. Because no one was injured and the building only received minor damage, the celebration was allowed to continue. Private fireworks have been banned in San Jose for more than 30 years, yet someone still decided to partake in setting them off. The fire was called in at 8:40 pm and upon fire crews arriving at the scene, a second alarm was called because of excessive smoke and the population of the fire location.
