
The Loma fire was reported at approximately 2:40 pm, in the Santa Cruz mountains, just north/west on Morgan Hill, California.
The Loma fire started at 2:42 pm on September 26, 2016, in the Santa Cruz Mountains in Santa Clara County, California. Many ground crews were called to the scene. The mountainous terrane hampered containment, which finally occurred on October 12, 2017. The fire burned 4,474 acres, consumed 12 residences and 16 outbuildings. Cal Fire and the California Conservation Corps battled this fire, using 62 personnel, 3 engines, 1 bulldozer and 5 water tenders
According to CalFire officials, the fire was caused by sparks from a portable generator used in marijuana cultivation operations off of Loma Chiquita Road.
