Hello, I’m Daniel Orr and I’m the photographer behind Colo 5280 Media, which is based in Colorado.

Photography piqued my interest while living in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. It was in July of 2011, when I acquired a Canon T3 camera and started shooting my son’s football practices and games. I eventually started shooting for a small business called Sportswurlz, who specialized in the shooting and production of high school and junior college sports, for online media viewing.

In 2012, I was approached by a small coast-side newspaper called Peninsula Progress, to shoot their local sports events and other news events. Yet, while working for both media outlets and needing to travel to different locations, I began taking landscape photos, in which to fill my time while waiting for an event to start. Soon enough, I also found myself shooting ‘First Responder’ incidents, starting in 2014.

I’ve become very passionate about my craft and I enjoy using my camera as a tool to show unique perspectives of my surroundings. So, leaving the wonderful scenery of California behind was a bit difficult back in 2019, but I enjoyed several months of traveling across the United States, which allowed me to expand my landscape portfolio.

I’ve recently joined the 5280Fire organization, here in the Denver metro area, and even though an embarkment on this fulltime journey was not a ‘plan’ I envisioned, I can say that I’m very pleased to have landed here in Colorado. Especially, considering the fact that each time I leave my house, I get to capture the remarkable beauty that comes with each new season.

Thank you for taking the time to learn a bit more about me and my passion for photography.
